Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Create site layouts and civil land development design sheet sets in AutoCAD/Civil 3D for utility and commercial-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Participate in the development of cutting-edge civil engineering tools that utilize Python in order to process large quantities of GIS data.
  • Apply engineering judgement and perform QAQC of the outputs of these advanced GIS/Python tools.
  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
  • Lead multiple projects.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard procedures and criteria.
  • Prepare project documentation, including scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Support client interaction for multiple projects.
  • May act as Engineer of Record.
  • Assign tasks to and direct less experienced team members to complete assignments.
  • Assist with proposals to provide professional services.
  • Provide mentoring for staff engineers.
  • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments with high proficiency and confidence.
  • Receive guidance, when necessary, on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
  • Receive a review of completed work for application of sound professional judgment.
  • Perform essential duties, including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.

Special Note: 

  • Individuals with prior  QGIS  and  Python experience are encouraged to apply (even if you do not have civil engineering/land development experience). Geotechs, map makers, surveyors, and other similar folks reading this --  this might be you!

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field, or in Data Science / Computer Science, or closely related
  • Professional Civil Engineering licensure or EIT is desirable.
  • Experience in QGIS Software is required.
  • Python coding skills are required.
  • Prior experience in design and drafting utilizing AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
  • Proficiency in the creation of civil land development sheet sets, including grading, site drainage, and access road design.
  • Prior renewable energy project experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Efficient time management – handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision, including prioritizing, organizing, and planning effectively to meet all deadlines.
