Job Description

CNN is seeking a Director of Audience Analytics who will be instrumental in overseeing audience reporting, analysis and insights across CNN digital. The role regularly interacts with senior management and works closely with cross-functional leaders across product, editorial and the rest of the data analytics team. This individual should be self-motivated, work well independently and as part of a team, and be passionate about what they do. They will be responsible for creating actionable insights and for leading a team to do the same, including analyzing audience and landscape trends -- both on and off-platform -- creating and maintaining key dashboards, and benchmarking/forecasting performance on a regular basis. The Director will be a core member of the data analytics team and report to the Vice President of Audience and Engagement Analytics. Responsibilities include establishing strong relationships with business, product and editorial leadership to understand business needs, setting priorities and roadmaps for analytics support, managing audience analytics requirements and data quality, leading a team to produce actionable insights, refining audience performance reporting, managing long-range traffic forecasting, and partnering with other analytics teams. Qualifications include 10+ years in audience, growth, or product analytics, 3+ years leading a team, strong knowledge of digital and social analytics, experience in forecasting, strong communication skills, expertise in SQL, experience with BI tools and Adobe Analytics. Preferred qualifications include a degree in a quantitative field, experience with social analytics tools, digital news experience, and programming skills in Python or R.
