Special Instructions to Applicants Please submit cover letter and resume. Position Summary CAE's mandate is to provide services for disabled students who require accommodations. This position is to provide students with disabilities a "level playing field" throughout the campus community. This includes CAE testing locations, classrooms, laboratories, and in some cases in a remote environment. Proctors are responsible for a variety of duties within the Testing Center and all testing locations, including but not limited to providing accommodations, overseeing exams, maintaining academic integrity, providing a supportive and distraction reduced environment for our students and working with campus partners (professors, TA's & academic departments). CAE Proctors assist with clerical duties in the processing of testing related forms and correspondence including Proctor Sheets or Remote Exam Forms, email to faculty, data entry and overall clerical functions of the department. Proctor will also assist with data collection, scanning, answering phones and answering general questions from students and professors. The incumbent should present a professional and supportive demeanor. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications Working knowledge of the unique academic needs of students with disabilities in a university setting and of the types of campus and community services, adaptive aids and assistive technology necessary to meet their needs. (Preferred) Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to make presentations. Ability to communicate tactfully with faculty, staff and students regarding services for students with disabilities, to convey information from Professors to Students or questions from Students to Professors. (Required) Ability to counsel and advise students regarding services. Ability to contact departments on campus and organizations off campus as a representative of the CAE. (Required) Working knowledge of computers, and software (Windows, Excel, and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and client management systems). (Preferred) Ability to work in a remote environment. (Required) Ability to work under pressure with frequent deadlines, making thoughtful decisions with speed and accuracy. Skill in working independently, organizing workload and following through on assignments with limited supervision. (Required) Interpersonal skills to interact diplomatically with students of various disabilities and diverse backgrounds and in a tactful manner. Ability to interact effectively with university and other CAE personnel to coordinate services when needed. (Required) General knowledge of laws that apply to persons with disabilities: Section 504of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Assembly Bill 422, Assembly Bill 746, and others. (Preferred) Knowledge of FERPA and how it applies to working with student records. (Preferred) Ability to maintain a quiet and distraction reduced environment and ability to maintain academic integrity when proctoring. (Required) Ability to provide services in a timely manner or risk a complaint being filed with the Office of Civil Rights against the University. (Required) Ability to identify problems and successfully recommend solutions. Ability to assist in the development of processes and procedures. Ability to work with existing service delivery systems and propose new mechanisms for managing service activities. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations High School Diploma High school diploma or equivalent experience (Required) Bachelor's Degree Degree from accredited 4 year institution preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
