Job Description

The offices of Kjar, McKenna and Stockalper, LLP are currently seeking Associate Attorney's -1-5 years’ experience with medical malpractice, public entities and or civil litigation experience.

Kjar, McKenna & Stockalper, seeks assiduous and detail-oriented Associates to join our thriving El Segundo office , to practice on one of our Medical Malpractice, Legal Malpractice, General Liability, Products Liability, Public Entity Defense and Municipal Liability focused teams.

You must be licensed in the state of California to be considered for this position.

This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional who is interested in insurance defense work and thrives in a high energy, fast paced environment; works efficiently under pressure and is able to meet deadlines; demonstrates good decision-making and is proactive and solutions-focused; and wishes to foster and further their litigation skills. The ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills, is detail oriented, and will be able to effectively collaborate with fellow KMS attorneys in the defense of their clients.

Qualified candidates will have experience handling civil litigation matters. We are currently hiring for the following practice areas:

  • General liability
  • Premises liability
  • Product liability
  • Professional liability

Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal skills, oral advocacy, writing skills, and motivation, are a must. Experience in insurance defense litigation and general familiarity with carrier billing and reporting guidelines is preferred.   • Admitted to practice law in the State of California - no exceptions.
  • 1-5 years of civil defense litigation experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Independently work with a senior attorney or partner on a team to manage caseload.
  • Conduct legal research using resources such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw.
  • Regularly handle and review legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Conduct legal research, handle discovery and analyze medical and employment records.
  • Frequently handle court appearances, depositions and meetings.
  • Communicate with clients and provide status reports.
